CRAFT, LIGHT, GEOMETRY

Class details.

During Spring 2019, I instructed first-year architecture students at Pennsylvania State University in shape grammar and their fabrication in designing sculptural lanterns, made of papers and aluminum. Students studied the geometry of polyhedra and how to digitally model them before designing and fabricating the lanterns based on polyhedral geometry. Together, the lanterns celebrate light and shadow during a time of transition from the dark of winter to the light of spring. Selected projects were exhibited at the Woskob Family Gallery in State College, PA.
